Coordinates, distances and magnitudes

The IOAA syllabus asks for the estimation of coordinates, of angles between stars and of magnitudes, and the sky-map and planetarium rounds test all three. Here each question rings one or two stars on a chart of the real sky. You estimate the angle between two stars in degrees, read the right ascension and declination of a star from the grid of a printed map, or judge the magnitude of a star against comparison stars whose magnitudes are written beside them. After each answer the chart names the stars and gives the catalogue value.
